We Used to Take the Long Way Home

Directed By An Nguyen

USA, Vietnam | Narrative | 14 min

New York City Premiere

Returning to Vietnam for the first time since middle school, a teenage girl reunites with old friends—a high achiever with a five-year plan, a chain-smoking jokester, and her childhood crush—for a nostalgic summer road trip to “Lake Perfect.” Racing through the countryside with her camera in hand, she tries to reclaim the past she left behind, only to find that time has quietly reshaped everything. A coming-of-age road movie about the hottest days of summer and friendships that span oceans and years.
