They Call Me The Tattoo Witch

Directed By Lindsay Nyman

Vietnam | Documentary | 14 min

In Hanoi, Vietnam, tattoo artist Tran Ngoc specializes in the rare and challenging art of tattooing over scars. In a society where tattoos are taboo, especially for women, Ngoc challenges stigma by using tattoos as a source of healing, helping clients from around the world reclaim their bodies and rewrite their stories.

From a breast cancer survivor revisiting her tattoo two years later to a woman reflecting on self-harm scars, THEY CALL ME THE TATTOO WITCH reveals that healing can come in many forms, and sometimes, something as unexpected as a tattoo can help a person feel whole again.
