Soma

Directed By Alisha Bhowmik

USA | Narrative | 11 min

It’s New Year’s Eve in Brooklyn and Annika doesn’t have anything to wear to the party that her best friend Beccs is playing at and her ex is hosting. She hasn’t seen him in years and after gaining weight, her clothes don’t fit her anymore. But, through the encouragement of her friend Naomi, she decides to brave it and make it out to see her friend perform her biggest show. Throughout the night, the songs of Beccs mirror the interior of Annika’s emotions as she tries to navigate an anxiety-inducing night. After a chance encounter and love from friends, Annika has a moment of acceptance and kindness towards her body.
