Sammo, a former tong enforcer on parole, works as a cook in a Chinese-American restaurant. He is mocked for his ankle monitor and is denied a raise by the restaurant’s owner, Mrs. Leung. Outside, he sees Yoshio, an elderly customer, get attacked by racist punks, led by Rick. Afraid of breaking parole, Sammo doesn’t intervene. Soon after, Rick and his crew rob the restaurant and assault Mrs. Leung. Filled with rage, Sammo fights the men and almost kills one of them. Rick pulls a gun on Sammo but the patrons pull out their phones to record, deterring him from firing at Sammo. Police arrive and arrest both men. As Sammo is taken away, Mrs. Leung shares a quiet and grateful exchange with him.
