A Thing about Kashem

Directed By Bijon Imtiaz

Bangladesh | Narrative | 17 min

U.S. Premiere

At the worst possible time and place, an unexpected bodily reaction sends Kashem—a married, seemingly settled man—into a spiraling midlife crisis. In a society where coming out can be life-threatening, he’s forced to confront long-buried desires and a truth he’s spent a lifetime denying. A THING ABOUT KASHEM is a dark comedy thriller exploring internalized homophobia and the quiet agony of self-erasure. It’s a coming-of-age story—not of youth, but of a middle-aged brown man finally facing who he really is.
