Two lovers wake up in a dingy motel room. They rush to leave and get on the road. It’s hard to tell where or when they are, but they’re on the run. We follow them on an outlaw road trip through small-town America. Interspersed with the road trip are abstract shots of them making love. The lovers start to feel happier as they put distance between them and whatever force is chasing them. But as dusk approaches, they pull into a motel, and we realize they’ve ended up where they started. This entire time, they’ve been running from their own broken relationship. It becomes clear that the shots of love-making were from this night and every night. They’re stuck in a loop they can’t break out of.
