FUNERAL OF THE EARTH is a painterly animated short that chronicles particles of dust journeying across geological ages to pay respects to a dying planet. Having witnessed past mass extinctions, the Dusts know the era humans call “Earth” will end, yet they continue to travel through its time, witness the Anthropocene, and arrive at its death. Dusts arrive in the desert to meet Earth in her final moment and exchange a final farewell, only to realize she had a premature death. As Earth vanishes, the Dusts hold a funeral to commemorate her and imagine the future she never reached. After the funeral, they continue walking into the planet’s next era.
