A Chinese-American serial grifter changes his name to Roberto Ferrari and opens an Italian ice shop, unaware that his past is about to catch up with him. With an enigmatic DJ set blaring over the store speakers, Ferrari is forced to navigate an onslaught of outraged characters while desperately trying to cling to his dream.

      Chelsie Pennello is a Chinese American filmmaker based in Washington, DC. She enjoys telling stories about offbeat characters and moments of unexpected grace. Her debut narrative short, MANDARINS, had its world premiere at Cinequest and was accepted into over 17 festivals in 2023, including Cucalorus and New Hampshire, where it won ""Best Short Drama."" Chelsie is a recipient of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities 2024 and 2025 Fellowship Awards. CHERRY-COLORED FUNK is her second short film.
