With the decrease in foot traffic caused by COVID-19 and anti-Asian sentiment, many Chinatown merchants are struggling to stay afloat — as of September, 225 out of 307 restaurants in Manhattan Chinatown remain open. Our goal is to provide relief to small Asian-owned businesses impacted by the effects of COVID-19.
Send Chinatown Love partners with these struggling restaurants to raise free meals for communities in need. Since the launch of the “Gift-a-Meal” campaign in June, we have worked with five merchants and their distributing partners to bring 3500 meals to our communities in need while directly giving business to our merchants in various Chinatowns of NYC. For anywhere between $3-10, donors can pay forward a meal for someone in need.
All campaigns have closed, but the pool donation to “Gift-a-Meal” is open here: https://merchant.sendchinatownlove.com/gift-a-meal-home
By October, we may have more campaigns that will be open for short periods of time and can update those via email.
