Frat House

Ted Heier opened a gay bar called Frat House in 1984 in the sleepy city of Garden Grove. Ted created a safe space for himself and for others inside the Frat, while publicly pushing gay rights forward in a staunchly conservative Orange County. All of these bars, though, would eventually close down. Today, Ted’s daughter Shelly fights to keep her father’s business alive, as Frat House is the last remaining gay bar in Garden Grove.
