The 2020 72 Hour Shootout: Top Ten Selection
October 1 — October 11
The 16th annual 72 Hour Film Shootout is a worldwide competition in which production teams anchored by Asian American and Asian talent have 72 hours to write, shoot, and edit short films up to five minutes in length. This year, the teams had to incorporate the theme “Going Viral” and the mystery prop “Toilet Paper.” We also challenged our filmmakers to make a movie in isolation, where teams implemented their best “DIY” and “At-Home” filmmaking skills. The result is a reflection of our months spent in isolation: the highs, the lows, the videoconferences, the masks, and, of course, toilet paper. The pandemic has also led to the rise of racism towards Asians and Asian Americans, with people referring to Covid-19 as “the Chinese virus.” Now, more than ever, we feel it is an important time to empower Asian American and Asian storytellers to share their experiences. Ultimately, this extraordinary selection represents the Top Ten films, which have been hand-selected by a panel of entertainment industry judges!
Tickets are donation based! However, guests need to RSVP to receive a link to the screening. Get your tickets today in the link below!
